withered ground

You light me up,

Then snatch it away.

Running,

Running.

When I’m gone,

You tug me back.

Pulling,

Pulling.

When I fall apart,

You let me loose.

Pushing,

Pushing

 Away.

When my pieces fall

In seven

Scattering,

Scattering.

You can’t help

Your grimy fingers

As they keep

Picking,

Picking.

Each fragment sharp

And unyielding

When you try to fit

Them back together,

Puzzling,

Puzzling.

Yet, it never

Looks the same.

Jagged lines

Spidering,

Spidering

Like a web

Across my chest,

Over my face,

Etched into my heart

While

Pumping,

Pumping

Through the cracks.

Yet, the blood spills

Out.
