“Oh what a night”, Franki Valli once sang, and that’s certainly the reaction you will have after seeing Jersey Boys the Musical at the Prince Edward theatre in London.

Jersey Boys tells the tale of how Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons made it to the big time, and the trials and tribulations they faced along the way. Split into four parts (the seasons) the story follows four young men from Jersey; Frankie, Tommy, Nick and Bobby, all with one passion in mind, to make music.

Whilst Tommy spends his time in and out of prison, Frankie and Nick struggle with problems at home and Bobby wonders if really wants to be in the limelight, and at one point, it seems the band will never make it. However it turns out that these problems are the very things that inspire the songs that propel them into fame.

With all their hit songs including, ‘Shirley’, ‘Bye Bye Baby’, ‘Beggin’, ‘Oh what a Night’, and ‘Walk like a Man’ cleverly woven into the story, this show really is a hit.

At times hysterical and at others emotional this is the musical to see this summer. You’ll end up wishing the music would never stop and have a real connection to the characters.

The cast; Ryan Molloy (Frankie), Jon Boydon (Tommy), Eugene McCoy (Nick) and Matthew Wycliffe (Bobby) seem to effortlessly perform their parts to the highest degree, even looking scarily like the original band.

So go on, propel yourself back into 1960s, and see how four boys from Jersey found their voices and lived their dreams.
