Air have never really come close to replicating the brilliance of 1997’s Moon Safari. I’m sure they cringe every time someone says this, but it’s true nonetheless. Yes, Talkie Walkie had its moments, as did 10 000HZ Legend, but there was no consistency, and many of the tracks fell into the dreaded ‘Muzak’ category. After listening to Love 2 a number of times, I deduced that it was all too easy to get on with other tasks whilst it played in the background. It rarely grabbed my attention, and never stopped me in my tracks to say ‘Wow’. As an album, it’s just there, and that isn’t enough.
