Best tracks: The day that never comes; Cyanide.

Another new experience for me, in that it was the first time I had listened to a Metallica album in its entirety. Although not quite as interesting as my foray into the world of Tom Waits, this certainly whet my whistle for Metallica’s music, and I will almost certainly be visiting their back catalogue in the near future.
Perfect for giving you a kick up the backside if you’re feeling lethargic on a Monday morning, Death Magnetic is furious and unrelenting, and gave me an energy boost every time I put it on. Brilliant instrumentation from the band (Lars Ulrich’s drumming is up there with John Bonham’s, in my opinion), and although lyrically uninspired, this was a highly enjoyable album.
