Welsh songstress Charlotte Church and rugby star Gavin Henson have split after five years together.
The couple, who recently announced their engagement, today confirmed the split, stating they parted for mutual reasons.
Sources state that no-one else was involved, and that the pair are both distraught, even though the split has been amicable so far.
The couple who have two children, Ruby, 2, and Dexter, 1, are already said to have agreed the details of their split.
Charlotte, 24, will keep their £1.2 million home win Wales whilst Gavin, 28, will find a place nearby in order to keep their children’s lives as normal as possible.
This shock announcement comes just six weeks after the couple announced their long anticipated engagement.
However the relationship was clearly on the rocks when they were spotted at a London hotel arguing.
There have also been rumours circulating that Charlotte was furious with Gavin for taking a reality TV show in Norway whilst she was trying to prepare for Lloyd Webbers Over the Rainbow.
Other issues have included Henson’s failing rugby career, something it is rumoured he has blamed Charlotte for in recent months.
Henson took unpaid leave from rugby recently due to an injury and wanting to be involved more with family life.
Both therefore feel that the split is for the best, but are determined that they will not let this disrupt the children’s lives.
A source stated that ‘One thing they do share together is complete devotion to their two children. That won’t change at all’.
Perhaps both will now be able to channel their efforts more into their careers and their children, rather than their relationship.
We certainly hope to see Gavin back on the pitch and Charlotte up on the stage soon!
