So the Dissertation has been bound, handed in and firmly scrubbed out of my ‘to-do’ list, so now it’s time to return to some reviews. So without further ado, here we go again!
The Deftones happen to be one of the freshest sounds (in my opinion) around to date, few bands have the ability to change sub genres into something they themselves can only be labelled with, however Deftones are one of a rare breed.
Their newest album Diamond Eyes is one fans of the band will not be disappointed with, and features some face-melting heavy riffs mixed with the spacey sounds of long reverb vocals and keyboards. For me personally, their previous albums have been ones to listen to when in certain moods, however the new album seems much more accessible for new fans wishing to join in with their music.
Stand out tracks have to be: Diamond Eyes; You’ve Seen The Butcher; Prince Rocket Skates.
You can check the entire album out now on Spotify (yes I finally have it) but it is certainly worth a purchase if you’re looking for a fresh sound in 2010. You don’t have to be a full-on Metal fan to appreciate the music either; every element seems to come from a different genre background, making this (as stated before) a very accessible new album.
