DAY 1: A song you like with a colour in the title – ‘Red’ by Taylor Swift

 The Faceless Painting

I’m trying to forget a face.
It’s the face of someone I never met
but it’s one I have memorised like the words of my old favourite song.
Take a look at this picture of a forgotten future.
Dark grey splots stain the background of the portrait,
my paintbrush dons a thicker coat
and blends the grey to a burning red,
but their silhouette remains unmarked, un-smudged, undesirable to ruin,
a distinct outline drawn with sharpie.
I’ve given up sketching the facial details;
the nose,
the eyes,
the lips,
I’m trying to solve a crossword with no right answers
