With this information being very new, there isn’t much to comment on at this time, so I will be talking about the internet’s reaction to Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim being cast as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, as well as what they want to see in the film itself. I will also be commenting on my predictions in the box office based on the internet’s reaction so far.

For months people have been fan-casting this live action film with celebrities; Florence Pugh, Sabrina Carpenter, Avantika, and Meg Donally have been some popular choices for Rapunzel. Disney has finally broken the silence and revealed who will be gracing our screens as their most popular fairytale couple.

The internet has gone wild. The moment this was announced, my own social media was bombarded with fans after fans expressing their opinions on this cast. Most are thrilled at this choice, claiming that there were no better people to cast in these roles. Others preferred a different casting for Rapunzel. Overall, I don’t think I have seen the internet this happy and excited in a while as many have begun to make edits of the pair to ‘I See The Light’ and ‘When Will My Life Begin’.

There is one thing that most agree on, and that is giving Milo Manheim a ballad for Flynn Ryder. After uncovering his performance in Journey to Bethlehem, more specifically, when he sings ‘The Ultimate Deception’, many fans want to see a ballad similar to ‘Wild Uncharted Waters’ from Disney’s Live Action The Little Mermaid. They want to put Milo’s vocals to use, so they aren’t just sections of a song sung by two or more people. As I listen to the Tangled soundtrack while writing this, I agree with their sentiments. Having a ballad for Flynn Ryder as he falls in love with Rapunzel will add to what I can already see will be an excellent film.

Ever since the leading lady and man were revealed, people began to speculate and fan cast the rest of the roles within the film. It seems that Disney may have listened to the majority as the last I heard, Kathryn Hahn is in talks to play Mother Gothel. After the success of Agatha All Along, fans yearn for her to play Mother Gothel, with her stunning vocals and physical resemblance to the character. Furthermore, people are begging Disney to bring back the original voice actors for Rapunzel and Flynn to play King Frederic and Queen Arianna (Rapunzel’s parents) as a cameo role, to pay homage to their roles in the animated feature. However, others have been asking for Elizabeth Olsen to play Rapunzel’s mother, as they feel she shows resemblance to the role. Only time will tell who is playing these roles as Disney has yet to announce any further who is playing who. Until then, we can only speculate and fan cast.

Now onto the one thing film companies always worry about: box office. When this film is released, I believe, based on the reaction online, that this will be one of Disney’s highest grossing live action films. I believe that people will be going crazy over Flynn Ryder the same way they went crazy over Fiyero in Wicked: For Good. With the animated film being one that people hold close to their hearts, as well as being one of the most popular princess films, Disney will be looking at a huge intake from people seeing this film. I want to predict that opening night in most cinemas will be sold out before the day even arrives. All I can say is, I can’t wait!

Once more has been released about other castings and the film’s development, I will take to the keyboard again to keep the updates coming. Especially when the trailer is released, I will be there, laptop on desk, commenting on my own reaction and others. Personally, I’m excited for this film to be released in the next few years and I know that it will bring me to tears like the animated film does every time I see it. There’s just something more emotional about seeing your favourite childhood film getting redone into something hopefully just as magical.
