March 5th is University Mental Health Day! In celebration, we’re launching our brand new songwriting competition! In the past, Splendid Fred has teamed up with students from the art department and conducted an art exhibition where the theme was around climate change. Students, graduates, and staff wrote and performed original songs to produce an album called ‘This Changes Everything’. Due to the positive impact this campaign had, Splendid Fred Records received the Green Gown Award in 2017. This year, we’re looking for songs dedicated to the theme of mental health. Whether it’s a personal original, a song written for, or about, a friend or family member, Splendid Fred want to spread awareness for a fantastic and important cause - and hopefully educate those people who don’t understand what life can be like when you are in a constant battle with yourself. What better way to spread the word than through music itself? Whether you’re a singer, songwriter, musician, composer, staff or student - send us your sounds to splendidfred@gmail.com by 10th April, and the winner will get the chance to have their song recorded.
